Struggle against violence against women in India

Fund for Civil Initiatives Support "FOCUS" is realizing informational project "There is no place for violence in your life". The goal of the project is creation of efficient system of support for women - victims of violence. Violence always is a hard trauma owing to that chronic psychological and somatic disorders can develop. Our aim is to form a network of organizations and specialists, which would be able to render tactful psychological assistance to victims of violence. On the 5th of September 2002 propaganda train "To the future - without violence" left the railway station "Almaty - 2" going on the route Almaty - Karaganda - Temirtau - Taraz - Shymkent - Kzyl Orda - Aktobe - Uralsk. Project was initiated by Kazakhstan Union of Crisis Centers and National Commission on Family and Women's Issues of RK President under financial support of UNIFEM

European Union is launching in the Czech Republic the project on support of men and women's equal rights. Program intends using of Swedish specialists' experience.

There were instituted proceedings against the picketer, she is accused of "violence against authorities": according to the version of the investigators, she hit the lieutenant colonel with her handbag.

2001 volunteers of the Karelia Center of Gender Issues joined the project of UNO International Foundation of Women's Development (UNIFEM), which is conducting in 9 countries the regional informational campaign for the women's right to live without violence.

Altai crisis center for men is preparing the project "Men overcoming violence". The main target of the project is to work out by men intolerance to the violence toward women and family.

Women’s Association “ZhARiA” is announcing the beginning of the competition for the participation in the educational seminar “Preventive measures of violence among teenagers”. Seminar will take place on 19-28 August 2002 in Astana (Borovoye resort).

Training seminar on the subject: “Preventive measures on domestic and social violence” (multi-disciplinary approach) took place in the frames of the Forum.

During the last half-year in Georgia 15 people have been kidnapped with the purpose to get ransom and 27 girls have been kidnapped to get married.
