Born on May 26, 1948, married with a son

A graduate of the State Medical Institute, speciality - Paediatrician. Working experience: a nurse, district doctor, Deputy Manager of the Sverdlovsk Health Care Department for Protection of Maternity and Childhood, Deputy Head of the Sverdlovskaya Oblast Health Care Department.

In 1990 was elected People's Deputy of Russia, headed the Committee for the Affairs of Women, Protection of Family, Motherhood and Childhood.

Since 1991 - Advisor to the RF President.
Since 1993 - Chairwoman of the RF President Commission for the Affairs of Women, Family and Demography.
1993 - 1995 - The 5th State Duma Deputy, Chairwoman of the "Women of Russia" faction.
Since 1995- The VIth State Duma Deputy in one-mandate constituency #180, member of the deputies' group "Russia's Regions". Member of the State Duma Committee for Regulations and Organisation of the State Duma Work.

Chairwoman of the all-Russian public-political women's movement of Russia (MWR).
Objectives of the WMR
  • consolidation of the efforts of women's organisations in taking concrete measures to defend the interests of children, women, families, pensioners and the needy;
  • enhancement of the participation of women in the social and political life of Russia, - promotion of their representation in all branches of power at all decision-making levels, practical implementation of the constitutional principle of equal rights, freedoms and equal opportunities for men and women in all spheres of social life;
  • carrying out the Convention provisions concerning the liquidation of all forms of discrimination in respect to women, realisation of the principle of equal rights, freedoms and equal opportunities to be fulfiled for men and women, which has been provided for by the RF Constitution (Article 19, item 3).
  • For the first time in the history of the Russian women's movement the Women's Movement of Russia jointly with other women's organisations have initiated signing the Charter of Women's Solidarity.
